CRANSTON, RI May 30, 2019 – Yushin America, Inc. (YAI) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Mayumi Kotani – President of Yushin Precision Equipment Co., Ltd. (YPE) – has appointed Takaya Sugimura as new President of YAI, the largest overseas subsidiary in the Yushin group.  Effective May 27 of this year, the 49 year old Sugimura will serve as new YAI president.  He will report to Mrs. Kotani at YPE, and succeeds Mr. Michiari Ota, who is finishing his 5-year tenure as YAI president.

Mr. Sugimura studied Economics at Kansai University of Japan and commenced his career in 1993 as an accountant for Nidec Corporation, one of the top comprehensive motor manufacturers in Japan.  Mr. Sugimura later joined the Yushin Accounting group in 1996 where he was entrusted with and successfully completed the laborious task of publicly listing YPE on the Osaka Stock Exchange Market that year. From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Sugimura first came to America as YAI’s controller and later CFO, where he guided Yushin America through the Great Economic Recession, managing the staff and helping the business maintain stable growth through 2017.  Learning a new culture and language was a feat for Mr. Sugimura. He overcame all adversities in a short time, flourishing as controller and then as Chief Financial Officer for Yushin Japan’s most important overseas subsidiary.

After returning from the United States to Yushin Japan headquarters, the company assigned Mr. Sugimura to take up the crucially strategic role of leading Yushin Japan’s Internal Audit Office.  The position directly reported to the President and Representative Directors of YPE.  This promotion made Mr. Sugimura one of the most strategic managerial employees in the entire Yushin Group. Mr. Sugimura brings decades of experience to the company with a proven record of leadership, direction and management.

“Gus,” as he is respectfully referred to by his YAI counterparts, announced at a company-wide meeting that he is ready to take on his new role.  He views each individual as a specialist in their own way, with a role and function to play within a company.  He states: “To achieve a higher goal or solve a complicated problem, we must gather each talent to one common knowledge base. Two heads are better than one.”  With his extensive influence and knowledge of providing strategic recommendations and upbringing of strategic financial growth for Yushin, Mr. Sugimura is ready to lead Yushin America on a clear path to success and positive growth.

On being appointed, Mr. Sugimura stated: “I hope to maintain the positive momentum my predecessor Mr. Michiari Ota achieved during his 5 years as president.”  He is “truly honored and excited” to serve as Yushin America’s new president and will continue to maintain a cohesive strong working relationship within the company while aiming to fulfill a ‘Work Together’ mentality through his leadership.  “We will continue to expand and refine our products and services even more to improve our customers’ experience.”
